Ms. Carolyn White

I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their education.  I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect.  An education should empower a child and help him or her make a positive contribution to our world.  When did I become a reading teacher?  When I was informed by my daughter's second grade teacher that she couldn't read. I became angry with the teacher. "Of course my child can read!" I yelled at the teacher. Determine to prove the teacher wrong, I demaned she bring Taylor into the conference to demostrate her reading ability.  Sorry to say, Taylor couldn't read.  Sitting there, seeing the defeated, embrassed, look on Taylor's face, I had failed her as a parent.  How was it possible? As a parent, I should have known.  But,  I didn't.

That is the  day I became a reading teacher.  My dinning room became my classroom.  Today, Taylor is an avid reader.  She is a Sophmore at MSU.

After working with Taylor, I decided to get my teacher's license and recently received a Master in reading literacy.  With help, every child can reach their full potential, regardless of their starting point.
