Mrs. Terwinda Towner Banks

Hello to all! I am Terwinda Towner Banks and I am pleased to introduce myself. I attended Velma Ware Jackson High School, Tougaloo College for my B.A. in English, Jackson State University for my M.A. in English and Belhaven University for my M.A. in Teaching. I began my teaching career in 2003 at Peeples Middle School in Jackson, MS where I taught Pre-AP English for grades 6-8. In 2006, I came to Canton High School where I began teaching 10th and 11th Grade English. I taught these grades until 2010 when I began teaching 11th and 12th grade English. I currently teach English IV and AP English Literature and Composition and am a proud Senior Sponsor.

Prior to teaching, I was a Case Management Director at Education and Training Institute (ETI) for 11 years. I provided educational, work readiness and job placement assistance to clients around the Jackson, Mississippi area.

Personally, I am married and have three young men: Geoffrey, Jason and Jeremy. I recently took in my nephew, Bershuan Aldrich, a new and wonderful experience for my husband and me. I attend Zion Chapel AME Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. John C. Evans, Jr., where I am the Director of Christian Education; a job that I love.

I look forward to teaching each student, excuse me....Senior this school year! Let's Get it Done! Thanks for your support!
