My name is Ms. Vanessa Cheeks-Tucker. I am the ELA (English Language Arts) teacher at CESC. I am a 1982 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, and a 2005 graduate of Jackson State University. This is my 31^st year teaching in the Canton Public Schools District. I spent 22 years teaching at Canton Elementary School, 3 years at Canton School of Arts and Sciences (Reuben B Myers CSAS), 2 years at Nichols Middle School, and this is my 4^th year at Canton Educational Services Center. I can truly say that I have taught all grades K-12.

     Everyone has his or her thoughts on education, and I am no different. I believe, first of all, that every child has the right to a good education. I also believe that every child begins school with a true desire to learn, and has the ability to learn. The one thing that I am certain of is that every teacher has the responsibility to help, and not hinder the learning process. Learning is a lifelong journey. It does not end after elementary school, and it certainly does not end here at Canton Educational Services Center.
