Secret Higgins is the band director at Nichols Middle School and has been since 2004. She started teaching in Canton in 2001 at Canton Elementary as the general music teacher. In 2003, after recieving her masters, she became assistant band director at Canton High under Mr. Jesse Primer. The following year, she was given the band director position at Nichols Middle where she has been able to grow and see her program florish. Her main goal is teaching her students how to read music and preparing them for the "Baby Boom of the South" at Canton High. She credits her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for her success.

Higgins recieved her Bachelors (2001) and Masters (2003) in Music Education from Jackson State University, where she performed in the mighty "Sonic Boom of the South". She has taught musicianship to many in Canton. She is a great teacher and one who is always leading her students toward her alma mater, JSU.
