Auto Service Technology I 997000 (Prerequisites: (1.) C or higher in English on last course taken and C or higher in Math in Algebra I and instructor Approval, or (2.) TABE Reading Score (eighth grade or higher) and instructor approval, or (3.) instructor approval).
If you want to work on cars and be safe, you may want to take this class for two high school credits. You will learn about brakes, electrical and electronic systems, and extras on an automobile. You can join the SkillsUSA club to be professional. You need to take the second year class, Automotive Service Technology II 997100, if you want to learn more about automobiles. You will learn more about servicing and keeping up engines. (Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or higher in English and Mathematics or instructor approval)
Collision Repair I 997100 ). (Prerequisites: (1.) C or higher in English in the last course taken and a C or higher in Algebra I with Instructor Approval, (2.) TABE Reading Score (eighth grade or higher) with Instructor Approval, or (3.) Instructor Approval.
If you want to learn to repair and paint on an automobile, you may want to take this class for two high school credits. You can join the SkillsUSA club to be professional. The second year is called Collision Repair II 997101. You get better at the job in the second year, and you will learn more about automobiles frames.
Construction I 993101 (Prerequisites: (1.) C or higher in English in the last course taken and a C or higher in Algebra I with Instructor Approval, (2.) TABE Reading Score (eighth grade or higher) with Instructor Approval, or (3.) Instructor Approval.)
If you want to work on buildings, you may want to take this class for two high school credits to learn about tools, math, blueprint reading, electricity, and plumbing. You can join the SkillsUSA club to be professional. If you return the second year, you will learn more about Carpentry 993110.
Engineering I 994000 (Prerequisites: (1.) A grade of C or Higher in Pre-Algebra and Instructor Approval, (2.) TABE Math Computation and TABE Math Applied Score (eighth grade or higher) and Instructor Approval, or (3.) Instructor Approval).
If you want to learn about engineering and robots, you may want to take this class for two high school credits. You must have passed Algebra I to take this class. You can join the Technology Student Association (TSA) club to be professional. The second year is called Engineering II 994001. You get to go to Nissan to program some sample robots. If you finish two years, you can use these two courses for two science credits.
Health Science-Core 995100 (Prerequisites: (1.) C or higher in English in the last course taken, C or higher in high school-level math/science, TABE reading score (eighth grade or higher) and instructor approval, or (2.) TABE reading and math scores (eighth grade or higher) and instructor approval, or (3.) Instructor Approval.
If you want to be a nurse or do anything in the health field, you may want to take this class for two high school credits. You must have passed Biology I to take this class. You can join the Health Occupations Students (HOSA) club to be professional. If you return for the second year, you will take Health Science II 995101. You will go out to some medical clinics to visit to see what health care work is about. If you finish both years, you can use these two courses for two science credits.
Law and Public Safety I 990101. (Prerequisites: (1.) C or higher in English last course taken, C or higher in math last course taken, TABE reading score (eighth grade or higher), and instructor approval, or (2.) TABE reading score (eighth grade or higher) and instructor approval, or (3.) Instructor approval.
If you want to work with police and highway patrol, public and private security, specialized law enforcement agencies, fire protection services, emergency medical services, military areas, or emergency management, you may want to take this class for two high school credits. You can join the SkillsUSA club to be professional. If you return for the second year, you will take Law and Public Safety II 990102. You must complete a fitness training program in the first year and job-shadowing experience in the second year.
Work-Based Learning 995010. (Prerequisites: You must be 16, and you must be a high school junior or senior.)
If you want to work and get high school credit, you may want this class for 2 high school credits if you work or volunteer 280 hours during the school year.
The requirement for the second-year class in a program, the student must pass the first year along with the following criteria:
- Automotive Service Technology II (Course Code: 997001). (Prerequisite: Successful completion Automotive Service Technology I).
- Repair Technology II (Course Code: 997101). (Prerequisite: Successful completion of Collision Repair Technology I).
- Carpentry (Course Code: 993110). (Prerequisite: Successful completion of Construction core.)
- Engineering II (Course Code 994001). (Prerequisite: Successful completion of Engineering I).
- Healthcare and Clinical Services (Year 2)—Course Code: Course Description: 995101 (Prerequisite: Successful completion of Health Science Core with the recommendation of at least a grade of C).
- Law and Public Safety II (Course Code: 990102). (Prerequisite: Successful completion of Law and Public Safety I).
Digital Media Technology I and II--Course Codes: 994100 and 994101
Course Description: Digital Media Technology I encompasses the foundational skills necessary in the digital media industry. Content such as safety, ethical issues and production, photography, graphic design, and print production will be offered to students. The audio production portion of the course emphasizes real-world, hands-on practice. Students will receive two Carnegie units upon completion of the course.
Course Description: Digital Media Technology II focuses on the process of video production and editing as well as career opportunities in audio and video technology. Another component of the course is motion graphics. This two-Carnegie unit course should only be taken after students successfully pass Digital Media Technology I.
